We are excited to celebrate the grand opening of the Metropolitan Peace Academy Training & Wellness Center! Take a step inside and see the transformation that happened over many months, from framing and concrete to the state-of-the-art facility.
MLAB Co-Hosts the First Annual Winter Mingle Networking Event
Our Metropolitan & Legal Aid Associate Board (MLAB) co-hosted the first-ever Winter Mingle! It was an inclusive mixer co-hosted by the associate boards of five leading Chicago nonprofits including MLAB, Esperanza Health Centers' Associate Board, Erie Neighborhood House Associate Board, Casa Central's Emerging Leaders Auxiliary Board, Mujeres Latinas en Acción’s Young Professionals Advisory Council, and Blancarte Strategies.
MFS Board Members Featured in Crain's Notable Women in Law for 2024
Congratulations are in order for Debra Bogo-Ernst of MFS’ Governing Board and Amanda Amert, Board Vice Chair of LAS! They have been included in Crain’s list of Notable Women in Law for 2024. The 141 lawyers who make up the latest class practice across a wide range of specialties, from counseling clients from small businesses to giant multinationals, from families to corporate boards. They serve as mentors and guiding lights for other women in their firms and bring their expertise to their communities and nonprofits outside the office.
Introducing Extended Hours for Our Intake and Referral Program
We're pleased to announce the Intake and Referral program has extended its hours as of February 1st! Clients can call any MFS Community Center's intake phone number to receive an intake screening and get connected to referrals and resources to meet their needs.

Howard & Evanston Community Center Program Showcase
Join us for the “HECC Program Showcase,” celebrating the programs and services provided by the Howard & Evanston Community Center! From early childhood and hands-on tech learning to adult education, food assistance, and domestic violence support, Metropolitan’s Howard & Evanston Community Center (HECC) is focused on building community success in the Greater Rogers Park Area and Evanston.
The HECC Program Showcase is the inaugural event of Metropolitan Family Services’ newest community center, which is celebrating almost 60 years of empowering families and individuals.
A Night to Stand Up for Families
This year's DuPage event is brand new! We're excited to introduce A Night to Stand Up for Families, a reception-style event taking place in Naperville. Registration is now open, so snag your tickets while you can and prepare for a night to include a special Domestic Violence program presentation and recognition of our Roger K. Johnson Leadership Award Honoree, Marcie Peterson.
