IN THIS MONTH'S FAMILY MATTERS ...
"As a parent to two toddlers, I have gained a newfound appreciation for the Child & Parent Development services offered by MFS including the Healthy Family, Playful Learning, and Parents as Partners programs. Empowering parents during such an important childhood development stage results in lifelong impacts."

Celebrating Juneteenth
Metropolitan Family Services held a number of Juneteenth celebrations across our centers as an annual commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865 – two years after the Emancipation Proclamation – enslaved Africans received word that they were free. Celebrating Juneteenth is an important step in educating on and advancing racial equity.
Take a look at the celebrations we had!
Spotlight: Older Caregivers Project
We are pleased to be a resource for families through the Older Caregivers Project, which helps adults age 60+ plan for children’s long-term care. Based at our Midway Center, this free program helps families establish a stronger support system through case management and links to community resources, ensures the well-being and safety of the children and caregivers – the latter often being grandparents or foster parents – and provides recommendations regarding the children’s living arrangements.
The Older Caregivers Project currently operates out of Metropolitan's Midway Center and is supported by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and the Office of the Inspector General of DCFS.
